WORLD OF WHITE

Photography, in general, can almost be understood as a literal representation of the phrase "Man and His World" because in its simplest expression, the act of photographing is all about a man, or woman, showing us their interpretation of their world. The photos you see here explore notions of escapism, that feeling we all sometimes get of wanting to get away from it all. They seek refuge from the busy city streets and illustrate a more intimate part of my own world, my parents' country house in the Eastern Townships. It has always been a source of discovery, of introspection and especially, of exploration. It is here that, as a child, I discovered nature firsthand, and also where I learnt about the rest of the world, through the books I read. We used to spend our white Christmases here and, to this day, documenting the house itself and the surrounding areas remains a source of great inspiration.
